My name is Mattia and I am an independent documentary photographer based in Berlin.

In my workflow, the visual medium represents a means of personal expression and communication, which I combine with my ethno-musicological academic background in order to document what I see and experience.

My works explore the interactions between people (whether individuals or communities) and their circumstances, with a special focus on the socio-political context in which they live.

When not on assignment, I shoot a wide range of commercial photography.
